Timothy Gadson - Leader in Urban School System Transformation
Based in Palm Beach, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Timothy Gadson is a nationally recognized education leader with a career spanning more than three decades of work across large urban and high-need school systems. Known for his data-informed approach, equity-centered vision, and results-oriented leadership style, Dr. Gadson’s work has established him as a trusted superintendent, interim deputy superintendent, educational consultant, and scholar committed to improving outcomes for all students.
Dr. Gadson currently serves as an Educational Consultant and the Owner and Principal Consultant of Timothy Gadson Consulting. Through this work, he partners with school districts and education organizations to strengthen leadership practices, improve instructional systems, and support districtwide improvement efforts focused on equity, accountability, and student success.
In 2023, Dr. Gadson served as Interim Deputy Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools. In this role, he played a central part in strategic planning, budget oversight, crisis management, and the implementation of initiatives that promoted equity, excellence, and innovation. He also provided executive leadership for leadership development, charter and partner schools, adult education, and alternative education programs.
Before his superintendent role, Dr. Gadson served as associate superintendent in several large districts, including Anoka-Hennepin Schools in Minnesota and Atlanta Public Schools in Georgia. He led high school transformation efforts, increased graduation rates to historic highs, improved literacy and numeracy outcomes, and narrowed achievement gaps for economically disadvantaged students, English language learners, and students with disabilities.
